Make A Payment

November 4, 2022

I pay my cable bill by mail. The service provider would prefer I gave them my bank account information so they can automatically withdraw, without need to ask or invoice, what they think I owe every month. This would, of course, be more convenient for me and for them.

The bill is folded into three parts (two folds) to fit into an envelope. At the bottom of the bill is a stub to be returned with payment. The stub has a perforation to tear it off. But the lower fold is always about a sixteenth to an eight of an inch removed from the perforation line. Although at least one other company I do business with has managed to put the fold on the perforation, the cable provider simply cannot manage to do this – making the tearing off of the stub a challenge, as the paper wants to rip along the fold line, just above the perforation.

I am also requested to put my account number on the check. My humble account number has enough digits to assign over one million, one hundred thousand individual numbers to every man, woman and child on the planet (I used 8 billion as a rough population estimate).

They want my bank account information. I pay by mail.
